Welcome to the
Nationalgalerie Prize for Young Art 2009!

Four exceptional talents were nominated for the Preis der Nationalgalerie für junge Kunst 2009 (Nationalgalerie Prize for Young Art): Keren Cytter, Omer Fast, Annette Kelm, Danh Vo. There are hardly any similarities, if anything it would be the superficial fact that all of them live in Berlin, although they are travelling all over the world. For the exhibition at the Hamburger Bahnhof there will be mostly new works referring to unusual architectural places in the Hamburger Bahnhof. There will be extensive film rooms but also works on the walls, on the floor and big objects dangling from the ceiling. Again very fundamental questions about art are posed but also traces of life are searched, reduced aesthetics carried to extremes, new topics for art developed. I don't want to reveal any more at this stage only one thing: the decision who will win the prize on September 22nd 2009 will by no means be easy. All four artists have brought in convincing concepts. See for yourself: From September 11th the exhibition will be open!

This year the audience award will be presented by art das Kunstmagazin. For this special award, not the five-person jury but any interested member of the public can, during the course of the exhibition, choose the best artist from among the nominees.
